Jenny Philips

Jenny Phillips happily remembers the power she felt listening to gospel music as a young girl and the desire she had even then to help others feel the same power. ―LDS music had such a huge impact on my life growing up,” Phillips says. ―Even at a young age I had a vision of making LDS music available outside of the United States. It has been one of the most fulfilling things I've been able to work on. I want members of the Church everywhere to have access to this kind of music in their native language.”

That vision carried her to where she is now—a leader in inspirational music and one of the most requested and performed artists in the LDS music industry. She has since released twelve albums and performed in over 1,000 performances both in and out of the United States.

Phillips began her professional musical journey by independently releasing her first album after graduating from Brigham Young University in 1999. During the creation of her second and third albums, Phillips formed a small choir to tour with her. The choir began with only eight members performing twice a month, but by the time Phillips released her fourth album in 2004, it had expanded to 140 rotating members performing more than 200 times each year. The Jenny Phillips Choir has since recorded on over one dozen albums, including various EFY CDs and albums by Hilary Weeks.

The realization of Phillips’ dreams didn’t stop there. In addition to her seven full-length albums, Phillips has released five bestselling albums for LDS youth and has performed in 13 different countries. Her music has been translated into 14 languages and performed by LDS youth groups in more than 24 nations. In conjunction with the release of Every Breath, her first collection album, Phillips also became a published author when her book for LDS Young Women, The Parable of the Princesses, was released.

―I’m sometimes overwhelmed at the opportunities that have come to me,” Phillips says. ―It’s taken a lot of hard work, but I love what I do. I love the people I meet. And I love the message I share.”

Phillips and her husband live in Utah with their three children.
